Problem playing 'Hancock' Bluray Disc

I have played bluray discs previous to this problem with no issues.

When the discs starts bottom half of the screen is black and there is an extreme flicker. This continues all the way through the preview material and into the main menu. Any extra material from the menu also has the same problem.

When the PG13 movie rating/FBI piracy warning/English&French copy protection/Statement re opinion of commentators start, the full screen returns with no flicker.

When the movie starts the problem reoccurs but when I select the pause button, the full screen is viewable with no flicker.

This is a Sony disc and any suggestions would be appreciated.
