The Shuttle Pro V2 works totally fine in the TimeLine----AND in Multi Trim
with one small exception....
In Multi Trim----the shuttle rim works fine but the inside jog wheel will not function no matter what I try to program..... (this is not true in the timeline as the jog wheel works fine in it)
But this is a very small annoyance and an easy work around in Multi-Trim because I have one of the programmable buttons to do Right Arrow and one to do Left Arrow (which is Frame by Frame Advance or Reverse) and it goes forward frame by frame based on how long you hold the button down.
Light hold down for a few seconds----it goes slowly Frame by frame and is every bit as useable as the jog wheel....
Hold it down longer and it gradually speeds up the jog/shuttle process....
I also programmed in the Save As Command, Tab Key, ESC key and the Undo Key On the top row of buttons
Fast Reverse, Previous Clip, Switch Settings, Next Clip, Fast Forward on the second row of 5 buttons
Switch Settings will give you a whole additional set of buttons
Two things make this device VERY useable:
1. you can program it to the way YOU work
2. you can program in unlimited amounts of commands---even Macros to some extent.
You do have to hit some buttons in order to get a function to work....
Tab----gets you into the timeline
Esc-----now activates my Next Clip and Previous Clip Buttons
One other thing I have noticed since installing this device is that all of the computer's sleep modes no longer work..... (Vista Ultimate 64 SP1) it appears the device is constantly grabbing "focus" and keeps the computer thinking it is not inactive......
I have a tech call into Contour Systems about this and am awaiting their response.
Lastly: It was easy to start the programming features as I started with the profile for "Ulead VideoStudio 7"" and just renamed it to "Corel VideoStudio X2" then changed button settings on it as I saw fit.
Tip: I also set the Arrow programming response to "Fastest" instead of "60 per second"
If anybody buys this device and wants my settings----I can export them to a file and mail it to you....

Ah, I wondered why my Vista Ultimate 64 SP1 doesn't go into sleep mode any more. Now that you mention it I realize that it stopped after attaching the Shuttle. One other thing I have noticed since installing this device is that all of the computer's sleep modes no longer work..... In a similar fashion, I set the shuttle dial position 7 left and 7 right to "As Fast as Possible" which makes it scan the time line at about 3.5x to 4x when I turn the dial to the maximum position. Does yours go faster? I'd like to get 8x.Tip: I also set the Arrow programming response to "Fastest" instead of "60 per second"

Well----the way I read the Docs.....
Even more than that
you could have
VS1 settings
VS2 settings
VS3 settings
etc.....
I have not had time to try this----but I believe it is totally feasable
Rename the Uleadvideo Studio 7 Profile to Corel VideoStudio X2 Settings 1
Modify your first set of Buttons
Then in the control panel----Create New Settings------Copy Contents from Existing Settings, name it Corel VideoStudio X2 Settings 2 and modify your second set of buttons.....
And make sure you assign the SAME button in that new set as "Switch Settings"
When you hit the Switch Settings button it will automatically go to the next set
And the little icon down in the task bar will show that set active with a check mark beside it.....
Again----haven't had time to try it----but looks totally feasable

Yes----it works fine----I have mine set now for:
Corel VideoStudio X2 Set 1
Corel VideoStudio X2 Set 2
30 possible buttons----but you could do more....
I had to fuss a bit with the profiles
Ultimately create a blank set then import the VideoStudion7 Profile
AND
I had to inactivate the Ulead VideoStudio Profile and the Ulead VideoStudio 6 Profile so the device will only look for these two profiles when you open up VdeoStudio X2:
Corel VideoStudio X2 Set 1
Corel VideoStudio X2 Set 2
The switching is actually quite elegant-----and your little taskbar Icon in the systray has a small balloon that lights up for a few seconds showing you which set you are in....
Pretty nifty......

Re: Shuttle Pro V2
I just ordered a Shuttle Pro V2 (it doesn't look like there are many other options for this type of control device). I'm still a newbie, but it definitely looks like it will help make editing much easier and more accurate than using my touchpad.
I'm curious what VS users have set up their buttons to do. Any suggestions on a good "beginner's" configuration? After using it for a while, do you still feel it is worth it, or have you moved on to something else?
Best wishes...
