AVI attachment freezes VS 11+

When I open an email attachment and try tp play it ,VS freezes, I can view it by scrolling it.
properties :-
AVI files 4kb data rate 97.83 kps mpeg 4 decoder DMO
audio mpeg layer 3 length 4o secs.
Any one know why ? ...........................Ken

Hi Kenneth,
There are lots of flavors of avi (about 800) so it's hard to say. If you can at least import the vid into VS then right click from inside VS and get the properties.
It may have been produced with an exotic codec or it may have a little corruption. Let us know of you can at least see the actual properties

DMO is the Directx Media Object. It should play fine in Windows media Player.
