Sync problem with subtitles on imported PAL DVD

Sync problem with subtitles on imported PAL DVD
I imported a PAL DVD video that is subtitled in English into my VS11+. The DVD imported fine, but the subtitles are hanging up and are not synching with the video in preview, editing, or after I create a file. Any way to correct this? Need a reply asap as I am in midst of a project due tonight. Thank you.
