Greetings all:
I am an avis VS user from VS 8 to present I love the product, however I have found many restrictions that VS has, which for the price you pay for it how could you really complain...it does more than advertised in my opinion...I am however constrained by the limited tracks avaialble and was hoping some of you may give some alternatives until VS adds more tracks etc.? Please note, I am not abandoning VS by any stretch of the imagination...I really dont feel like learning a whole new NLE system, but something that has more tracks, does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

First, what kind of tracks are you talking about: audio, video or both. I could agree about the audio, where VS is quite limited (though IMHO it has always been rather weak on the audio side of things).

But how many video tracks do you need or can really use above the 9 that are already in X2? (Main video track, 6 overlay tracks and 2 title tracks.)

Adobe premiere
10 x the video tracks and 10x the price.

Most serious video editors will use a serious audio editor for that side of things, then bring that in to the video editor, which is what it says on the can

Yeah it's the audio that is my issue...I cannot find a reasonable way around this...I know many have suggested to export the clip then come back and do other things...this is just not practical. like I said before, I love VS and will continue to use it, I just would like to see if there are any other alternatives. The other message said Adobe Premiere, and I looked at it, and YIKES...it is pricey...I guess I will stay with what I have and try to make the best of it.

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Moreover, I would like to see the ability to create an entire set of movie clips, then nest them into another timeline..this would solve some of the audio track woes...I realize that it has been mentioned to create a separate video file then import that, but that is not really practical...it would make sense in addition to adding more audio tracks to allow for the creation of a timeline with many clips to be inserted into another empty timeline and do editing there as well without having to export then import into a new timeline, on the fly nesting...hmmm, I am hoping for it soon.

You can do that, sort of. You don't have to create a video file. Simply save the clips as a VSP (a project) and import that into the new timeline.
