VS training videos????????????

Post by dpriest »

What happened to all the tutorial videos on take one? It redirects me to a site to pay for these tutorials. Are you kidding me??!! Please tell me that they are still available somewhere or someone has a blog that has these tutorials including great creative ways for creating cool effects.

-Thanks

Not that I know of. For whatever reason the maker of the Take One videos decided to start charging for them.

I could not view most of the videos (I will try again later).
Would you by any chance have training videos for VS11+?
I am much insterested in fading the last clip on my timeline. I found this, http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... d520cff121, but would like a video to really understand it better.

You might find this "Tutorial" a bit easier to follow!

Clip Fade-In / Fade-Out

Post by oka »

Steve, first thanks for the information.
I have more questions and need to be more educated.

1. How did you add the link in your post so it will go straight right into the link you had wanted me to see (Tue Mar 28, 2006 2:37 am). The post is a long one (Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:54 am), however, when I click the hyperlink, I get directed straight to that part (not to the beginng of the post). I like that trick!

2. The past month or so, I cannot play the project at hand. When I switch from "Clip" to "Project", and select to play the whole project, it automatically starts rendering. Is there a setting to turn this off? On this note I can not test out the tutorial you sent me.

3. The tutorial you sent me. If I add a color to the front of the vide clip sets, and another at the end, with the transitions between the clips, wouldn't the the fade In/Out end and the clips start and end, if they are to be put on the same timeline? Maybe I first have to rectify issue #2 above before I start getting over my head here. I thought the color templates would need to overlap the video clips. Hope I am not jumping the gun here!

Thanks again for your time.

If you scroll to the "page" you want, then copy the link, at that point is where the link will open.

Sounds like you have playback set for High Quality. If that is the case it will render a temporary file for viewing. Go to Preferences to change it to Instant Playback.

Not exactly sure of your question. A transition does overlap the clips. If you have X2 you can manually overlap clips to create transitions. Prior versions the overlap is automatic when you insert the transition.

Thanks again for your time.

Steve.
The link with the FX Transitions and the Color palette does not seem to be what I am really looking for.

Jeff.
Thanks for the hyperlink info.
I can now play my project ?I had the Playback Method set to High Quality Playback mode.

May I explain more on what I am looking for? Maybe VS11+ is not capable of what I am looking for ?very disappointed though. Jeff mentioned X2 might be what I am looking for. Il try to explain myself better the best I can; (I still work in progress).

This is a scenario. I have my daughter trimmed birthday videos in clips. The first clip starts abruptly same as the last clip. My goal is NOT to have the video witch?to a color pallet either at the beginning or at the end. My main goal is to have, say a black color pallet start playing and while it is elting?to a clear color, the first clip will start from full-transparency to the full color video. During this process, both the color pallet and the video with overlap each other from black ?light grey / transparent video to full video. The reverse would be at the end of the project.

I installed VS12, still I can seem to achieve my goal. I can use transitions but not fading. I still cannot use the Fade-In/Fade-Out function in VS11/12.

I have an image file I would like to upload so show what I am trying to explain in the much english I can write. How can I attach an image here. I tried the "Img" button but don't know what to do next. The image file is on my hard drive.

To attach an image file it must reside somewhere on the Internet. Many people use ImageShack or some other free service.

Still not exactly clear what you are trying to do. You want to transition from a color clip to a video clip, but you also want the video clip to fade in from 100% transparency to 0%?

If that is the case then it is very easy to do in X2, because that is the only version that allows transitions on the overlay track (the main video track does not allow fade ins/outs).

To do it in a previous version you would have to put your video clip on the overlay track, apply the fade in/out, then save it as a VSP. You would then open a new project, insert a color clip on the main video track, insert your pre-made VSP, then add the transition.

Oh, I'll try the internet image stores (I thought I could attach from my hard drive.

Jeff, you got what I am really looking for, without posting the image.
Just fiddled around with the fade utility in VS12. I will try it in VS11 as you explained when I get back home this evening. Thanks for the info. Will keep you updated.
