I am trying to just type a word in 3 D and then save it as a gif but it always comes out with rough edges even when I have checked anti-alias strong. When I try to save it I always get an error message that it cannot be saved in that format. Can anyone help? It seems like a simple task.
Thanks
anti-alias for text image not working
If you're saying it has jagged edges AFTER being saved as a GIF (or AFTER you perform color reduction to 8bit color), this is fairly normal. It's a limitation of the GIF format. Since there's only 1 transparency color, GIF can't antialias images well (proper antialiasing requires multiple levels of transparency).
You can try saving as a full color png, or using a solid, neutral background color and saving as a GIF. BTW, is it something you can save as a high quality JPG, or does it REQUIRE transparency?

The text needs to be transparent, although I could do a work around to use it with same color bg. I have done this before in earlier versions of PI and don't undertand why it doesn't work in this version. I have had to purchase a different brand program to accomplish it. But if you can help me figure it out that would be great because I use PI for most everything I do!

Use File> More save options> Save for video to obtain transparency.
Transparency is defined by mask.
OR
Use File> Save as >choose file format which supports transparency & tick Invoke Options dialog > Save - you can interactively define transparency.
To get transparent text, write it on mask.
Don't use GIF, it's good only for pixel art.
