UVS9 not playing Quicktime properly

Post by Tristan »

Hi all,

I have the UVS 9 Trial installed, im looking to upgrade, but it seems to be chocking on a few quicktime vids I have... Almost every time i insert a quicktime vid into the timeline, and click play, the timeline slider flys straight to the end of the clip... most times the clip will play through properely, but sometimes not... this also happens with the timer just below the preview window - it will sometimes go super-speed and stop right at the end of the clip even though the video and audio are playing through normally.

It seems to be ok on short quicktime files(<10 secs), but on ones that are longer than about 10-15 secs it seems to happen... The clips all open fine in quicktime itself, so there isn't anything wrong with the vids themselves... and I have an Athlon64 3000+ w/1GB RAM so its not cos my computer is choking...

Ive also had an odd problem with some quicktime clips not playing properely.. it will only display 1 frame every 4 or so secs, and 1 frames-worth of audio every 10 or so secs... but this only happens on one or two quicktime files... Again they play fine if i open them in quicktime player.

.MOV files will also only display the first frame only adn no sound if i put them in the overlay track and deform them... just as if they were just a simple JPEG pic... when i create the final video, they encode as a still image as well... just as if id inserted a still jpeg image instead of a quicktime clip...

AVI and MPEG files open fine and all play sweetly and do everything perfectly in UVS9 its just these stupid quicktime files... has anyone heard of this? or even better, solved it??

As I said, i do only have the trial of UVS9, but I would assume its the same as the full version... All the files that i've used are .MOV files.. havent tried this with .QT files cos i dont have any...

Thanks in advance :D

MOV

I have a Minolta 2MP still camera which takes MOV files 320x240 15 fps. Except that the quality of the MOV files it creates is very poor in resolution and frames (colour, focus, and sound are great), they all play and render perfectly. I also tried a few NASA Apollo Landing files, 320x240 7.5 fps, and 129x96 5fps. This all worked fine. Even when making a VCD and SVCD video file.

You could try downloading and installing the latest version of Quicktime player, if you have not already done this.

Hope it helps to know that for some it does work.
