Extracted audio...can you save as wav or mp3?

If I want to edit the audio from a video by another program, after I split the audio, is there a way to save it in wav or mp3 format so I can import it to the external audio editing program, edit it, and then import it back to videostudio x2?

Actually you don't even have to split the audio. Just go to Share>Create Sound File and it will create a wav file.

But don't I have to split the audio anyhow if I want to delete it and replace it with the edited audio? Or is there an easier way? I just don't find videostudio very helpful or easy to edit audio in, and prefer my blaze medio pro for that.

You can, but splitting the audio simply mutes it on the video track and places a copy on the audio track. So I just mute the video track anyway, and put my edited audio on the audio track. Six of one, half a dozen of another.

And I agree with you, VS is a fine video editor, but not so much when it comes to audio.

Refresh my memory, how do you mute the main audio track to allow the other track to play through? Would the resultant file be smaller if I use Blaze Media pro to delete the audio track?
