Hopefully somebody here can give me a solution to the following problem :
I have this project where I have to process a large quantity of TS files. These are coming from the ITV 1-4 satellite streams broadcasting with a resolution of 544x576 in 16:9.
now I have already demultiplexed these TS files into their composing MPEG video & audio streams, but I need to edit and recombine them into a single MPEG file, which will then be stored on a central archive.
without going too much into detail, I need to cut the unnecessary sequences from these files, and combine the files which have the same subject. it's like cutting out the adv breaks and reassembling the programme parts back into one file.
however, It is strictly forbidden to modify the source material : nothing in the created output file can be manipulated in any way. As such I cannot change the resolution or encoding method, I need to keep the native resolution of 544x576 16:9.
and that's where I have a problem, I have been trying for days to create a project template in MSP8 which will give me this resolution. I can get 480x576, 704x576 and 720x576 in 16:9 with MPEG2, but I cannot select 544x576 16:9, nor can I enter this resolution manually !
If I select an AVI template, then I can enter the 544x576 resolution manually, but I can't change the aspect which is locked at 3:4. Besides, I cannot use AVI as output, I must create a MPEG file.
the editing & file combining is quite straightforeward, so MSP8 is my primary choice for the job, but can anyone tell me how I can create a project template for MPEG2 with a resolution of 544x576 in 16:9 ?
thank you !

Sorry I'm away from my desktop which has MSP8 installed, so I'm going by memory...
The frame sizes you specify do not conform to DVD specifications, so I'm guessing that you're using a PAL DVD template. You could choose the custom option>MPEG-2 and possibly alter the frame size. There are differences in DVD MPEG-2 and just MPEG-2, which would not be compliant with DVD specs.
Here's a link to more details concerning DVD Specs:
