VS9 to X2 upgrade questions?

I¡¦ve used VS9 for some time on an XP PC. I now have a Vista PC, and am considering the acquisition of X2 or Pro X2. I have no plans to work with HD or Blu-ray. Since the price of X2 and Pro X2 (with the promotional discount) are the same, what are the pros and cons of one product or the other? For example, are patches more available for Pro X2 than X2? If I were to purchase the upgrade version, must the previous VS version already be installed on the PC, or is there some other mechanism for verifying ownership of the prior version? I have no desire to install VS9 on the Vista PC since it is itself an upgrade version installed on top of VS6. All of my projects have been (and will continue to be) videos utilizing avi source files captured from a Sony digital camcorder, either from 8mm (digital & analog) tapes, mini-DV tapes, or analog to digital pass-thru from a VCR. I have also used VS9 to create slide shows from jpg images. I have no projects created in VS9 that I want to carry over. Are there any other gotchas that I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance
Pete

No, they are the same.

No, you will just be asked to provide the serial number of the previous version.

That's good because v9 will not run on Vista.

X2 does have a problem capturing analog. I believe the pass-thru function still has not been fixed. You may have to use a third party program to capture, then import into VS for editing.
Thanks in advance
