Help with rendering 1080 in VSx2

I am using VS x2 and I am having a lot of trouble rendering video at 1920 x 1080 and could use some help. I have a 2 min.HD aerial video that I tried to render in WMV and it always stops half way through and says " not enough virtual memory" I have increased the virtual memory to 8 gig and it doesn't help. My computer is a dual core running at 3.3ghz with 4 gigs of Ram and seem to be fast enough. I would like to use WMV file but I am open to anything that will work fairly well. I have spent the last week rendering short clips over and over using what seem like 100 or more different setting and I am only getting poor results. The best I could get was avi. with the divx 5.1.1 codex with the bitrate set at the highest 4000K, but when I rendered the rate shows at 1500K and while it looks ok for most of it , the last 20 sec. show a lot of compression and is almost unusable.
Can anyone suggest what is the best way to render a 1920 x 1080 video for upload to Vimeo. If the completed file is a few hundred mb. that is fine. Yes I know that Vimeo and Youtube is 1280x 720 but I would rather go with the higher settings for playback on my personal computer.
Thanks Frank...
