B;ack lab, neon, sj - thank you all for your informative replies.
Really impressed with this program ..as usual..not i have ideas above my station..so my small project will take a little longer..sooo much to play with.
One questio, blacklab, you mentioned VS didnt have a problem with Alpha..wanting to import with that transparent background...i know can use chromakey etc....however
does seem to import when saved using..i think the suggestion was..png..ticvk alpha box..etc...no problem loading a saved explosion etc using any other method..just the alpha.
Just wondering...doing something wrong?
Thanks again, yes SJ..gotten that far with the cloud...now have seen this program..as i mentioned...ideas shifted a little...but glad i started the thread as this PI program is impressive.
like a dark cloud over my head...

Here's a link to a site called The Dom sharing place. Look about halfway down the page & you'll find a link to about 7 cloud files in png format. This format allows for clear or transparent backgrounds. These clouds are remarkably realistic. I've noticed that some image viewers will not properly show these files as they are white clouds with a transparent background. The transparent background is also often displayed as white. Try putting one of the cloud.png files on your overlay track with either a video or solid relatively dark color chip on the main track.

The lightening flash png files, just below the clouds, are also awesome png files
Good luck with your efforts.

Thanks Rick..for another source of info.
I am however still tinkering with this fablous particle thang suggested before.
Having the trial and the cost..though cheap..still runs into a fair few pounds..for now i must make use of the 30 days freebie whilst i can..hence...learn learn learn for this next video at least.
A question then, quality wise, have played around downloaded a few explosions and the like..flowers etc...and brought them into VS..using the Uncompressed method..AVI...seems to be the only one that works..and allows me to tick the Alpha button etc..allowing me to make it a transparency - takes away the black.
Now, must say, happy enough with the effects im getting..though is a dark ring around the cloud when i do this?..And the quality..once burned onto a dvd..is...ok...not the best.
Is this because...im having to increase the original video clip..once in VS...placing on timeline..and expanding to fit the screen...what am i doing wrong? How do you save this particleillusion thang correctly maximising the size etc?
Any thoughts?
