Just came back to this thread and maxblack, thanks very much for your expert analysis of my samples and for reassuring me that I'm not going mad. You've managed to demonstrate what I was trying to explain but with factual evidence rather than my amateur ramblings. I'm not sure where it leaves me, other than to confirm there is a problem with VS115. I guess I should go ahead and report this and maybe they'll look into it. Please post here if you notice anything similar happening with the latest version as I may upgrade. Thanks again.

I would think that Support would want you to give them a snippet of the SOURCE (as I suggested in my first post), and then the exact steps you take to yield the defective output.

But you will have to make sure that the clip you provide, when processed by VS11, shows the problem.
