Capture problem

Post by eastonz »

When I try to capture my video from a Sony DCR HC42 it plays fine before I capture it but as soon as I hit capture it becomes jerky.

Then the final dvd has a shimmer every few seconds.

Thanks for the help

I'm afraid we need to know a bit more than that to be able to help you - how are you capturing - what equipment are you using - what is the specification of your PC - what settings are you using in UVS ???
have you read this thread :-

Im pretty sure my problem has something to do with a setting i have
adjusted wrong Geforce4 64 meg ddr with tv out video card. I`m using the base station from my camcorder to x-fer my home videos.

Your computer is light on hard drive space if those are total sizes. You should have that much FREE unfragmented hard drive space. What format are you capturing? AVI or Mpeg? What bitrate? Frame order? etc.

Don't capture directly to MPEG format unless you have at least a 3GHz CPU -- your system can't keep up with the encoding in realtime, and it is probably dropping frames like crazy. Also, the preview has the lowest priority of everything that UVS does during capture, so it is allowed to fall behind so that capturing / encoding don't slow down.
