MovieFactory 3.5 Multi-Trim and Poor Video
Has anyone had a similar problem? After I edit my wintv dvd compliant file and make a dvd folder I find the output video is really poor. The source is great. If I dont edit the file I have great video. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Under "Preferences" make sure you choose "BEST" as a setting.
When editing Mpg2 files you need to make the "Project Properties"
exactly match the source video's properties.
If you right click on the video on the timeline and select properties
write down the properties of the source video.
Then create a template matching the source videos properties.
Then assign that template you created as the "Project Properties".
This will cause MF to only re-render the edited video and quickly
pass over the un-edited material leaving it unaffected.
This is uleads "Smart Rendering" but to make it work you must have the
project properties equal to the source video(s) properties.
You can change the audio from mpg to dolby or lpcm to dolby/mpg audio.
That won't affect the video smart-rendering.
To make this work properly all the video files should have the same
attributes. If you mix a HighQuality recording with a Standard Quality
recording only one of them will be smart-rendered depending on the Project
Settings.
If you need to do that then use VideoStudio 9 to edit them or
VideoRedo. Then import the edited files into MF, create chapters, menu's
and burn.
Hope this helps,
MD
