Hello,
I made a video recording of a family meeting using a digital still camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX100) as it was what I had available at the moment.
The file is 1 hour and 7 minutes long and in size it's 1.87GB in .mov format.
I wanted to cut a short moment (few seconds) out of the video.
I loaded it in Ulead and did the little cutting. Then in "create a video file" I used "custom" & "quick time movie". Here I entered the EXACT same properties of the original clip:
30 frames/sec
320x240
Photo-JPEG compression
24 bit color depth
no audio compression
Now that the new video file is created, the quality is the same as in the original, but the size jumped up to 6.01 GB. Why is this happening and how can I fit into the original size, pls?
huge file size after editing a .mov video

I don't work with MOV files, but something seems wrong. File size (any format) is determined by bitrate and playing time. Is there a bitrate setting, or maybe a "quality" setting?
The "Photo-JPEG compression " seems odd to me. You are saving in MOV format, right?
What version of Video Studio are you using?
And, "no audio compression" seems odd too, assuming there is some audio.

In Ulead I click on properties on the original .mov clip. Then I fill the same properties in the output custom video settings.
I'd rather not work with .mov format, but in this case I have no choice.
The original properties according to Ulead are 30 frames/sec and Photo-Jpeg compression and no audio compression (I don't see this as no sound, just not compressed audio).
If you check under "custom" settings for "quick time movie", you will see there is no quality adjustment bar for "Photo-JPEG" compression.
I use the same settings from the source video on the edited video. They are both same lenght minus 5 seconds for the final video, but with huge difference in file size.
My only guess is that Photo-JPEG compression on the digital camera is quite different (better) than same compression in Ulead? I hate quick time and their mov format.
