Check what the going rates are in your area, and adjust accordingly for your level of expertise. If you get no takers you are charging too much. If you get too much work you are not charging enough.

Keep in mind those prices are here in the U.S. Since you're across the pond, you need to take into consideration that the dollar is on the decline, unemployment is at record highs, Al Gore's global warming theory is going down the tubes, Obama is trying to alienate the U.K, and befriend our enemies, and various other things that impacts the economy. So you may be able to charge double for what you see here...;)

Seriously though, if your rates are too cheap, people tend to question the professionalism. If you have someone that will perform a service for next to nothing, while everyone else is charging 3x more, they're likely to shy away from the cheap one, thinking he/she really doesn't know what they're doing. If you've got the testimony, recommendations of others, then you should be charging similar to competition..

I have done 2 weddings.

1st was free for a friend

2nd I charged $900.00 US dollars. 2 camera men, full menu DVD. I should have charged $1500.00

Next one is going for that$1500 2 camera men full DVD menu about 4 hours of filming.
