Just updated my ATI Radeon driver. It was only one version behind, but now it's current.

Same left of center result.

Thanks, Jeff, I agree that it's got to be a hardware problem but have no earthly idea what to do about it.

Actually, my entire system changed but I got the same thing I had before to save some $$$. Custom built, but had the same specs (except for the graphics card) as the previous unit.

Besides updating the driver as Clevo suggested, I don't know anything else I can do.

FIXED IT!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Well it wasn't my graphics board, it was VS after all.

When I made my titles I used fairly large fonts. To ensure all the lines fit withing the safe viewing area, I made sure there was no space at the beginning or end of each line. Which means if you went to the end of the line and hit the delete key, the following line would come up to the line you're on with no space between the last word of the current line and the first word of the next line.

i.e. -

Single
Title
Section

Going to the end of the 2nd line and deleting the space would put the following line up next to it, like this . . .

Single
TitleSection

By inserting a blank space at the beginning AND end of each line, the title rendered PERFECTLY centered!

I have no idea why . . .

Maybe it is the way VS intereacts with the graphics board, but I don't see how.

Thanks to all for your suggestions and help in trying to solve this.

Whew!

UPDATE . . .

Steve, yes, "Word Wrap" apparently was the problem with that particular situation. (Thanks for the correct term - I can't believe I didn't use it!)

However, it's not an absolute fix as I have since found other titles having the same problem and my little work around didn't to anything.

I'm talking I even drag a pre-made title from the library to the title line and get the same left of center results! Grrrrrr! *screaming*

About the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is to turn off firewall and virus protection when using VS. Everything else works fine with those turned on so I can't believe it would affect only the titles.

But what?

Help, before I have no hair left . . .
And if that is correct then it becomes very difficult if not impossible for us to duplicate your very strange problem!
Still thinking about it, I dont think turning off firewall will make any difference.

Hi LGO

Have you tried rendering the title to different video file types, try a WMV,dv, mpeg file.
In fact which options have you tried?

Hi Trevor & Steve . . .

T. - I started out rendering to NTSC DVD 4:3 MPEG, which is where I noticed the problem. I tried WMV format with the same result. I tried changing the 720x480 to 640x480 and got the same thing (Don't know why I tried that, it just sounded good at the time. )

Finally got a workaround that is consistent.

I change the project properties to DV-AVI 2, and render single file to that. I take that single video and put it in the timeline in a new project and then render to a NTSC DVD 4:3 MPEG. PERFECTLY centered every time!

Don't know why that works, nor do I care. Looking at this makes me think there is some issue between my machine, VS titles, and the MPEG encoder. But that not so brilliant assessment would cover every problem, methinks.

S. - Sorry, I went back and tried to figure out which pre-made title I used to make my titles, but I just can't recall or recognize it. I thought it was on the last row of the pre-made titles, but that's all I can remember. Sorry.

Thanks for your help everyone!

Hi
Nice to hear you have found a workround.

From what you say it would seem to be a problem Mpeg Codec.
VS 10 and X2 12 are installed in different locations on your pc. I would think the common link could be codecs.

Have you installed any additional codec packs? although available can cause problems.

Otherwise I would do a clean install of all Ulead/corel products.

DV-Avi
As this seems to cure the problem, how are you capturing your footage?
Are you capturing via firewire to DV format?
or selecting some other from the Capture-Format box.
DV capture is the best method you can use as it transfer/copies the data from camera to pc.

Hi Trevor . . .

No, no codec packs around here for almost 10 years now. Learned that lesson . . .

Only thing I've done is to update Windows. Using WMP Ver. 11 so codecs with that should be fine, eh? All the rest came from whatever was installed with VS.

I thought it might be a codec problem, but then there hasn't been a big outcry on this title issue I'm having by others. Don't know . . .

Have not captured anything on this new unit yet. Still working on already captured material. Did try and capture a little last week. It didn't work. I was in a hurry and thought I'd come back to it. Now, since I have my title work around, I guess I'm back to it.

The title issue is indeed in both VS 10 and VS 12. By re-installing them, how will that clear codecs already residing on my machine?

Thanks . . .

Hi

I don¡¦t really think it would, it was just another option.
Strange problem--as we cannot reproduce your problem it makes it difficult to fix, Still thinking.

ANOTHER UPDATE

Okay, everything I've listed in this thread that seems to work with titeling in one video, does NOT work all the time!!!! NOTHING consistenly works to keep my titles centered in all the videos . . . until now.

This thread solved the problem, but as I wrote at the end of it, the solution creates a different problem for titles.

When I turn ON non-square pixel rendering when outputting the file, the titles DO center prefectly on the resulting video. BUT, the white text "flickers" when scrolling.

Any suggestions how to fix the "flickering" text? Blur it slightly? Geeeez, why does something so simple litle having centered text w/o flickering have to be so difficult?

What happens if you turn off Non-Square Pixel Rendering, then render that to a video file. Then import that video file into your project and add the titles.
