Pro X2 - "Multiple title" doesn't 'center' on scre

Post by LGO »

I must be losing my touch. In the past I've been able to search the archives and find answers for easily 75% of the questions/problems I run into. Now I have the second problem in just short time span that I have to post for help  . . .

Using Pro X2 with the November Patch.

Using a simple "Multiple title" - only one. I want it centered on the screen. I type up the title and then go to the right side of the interface and click on the "center" button. The title is immediately adjusted to be centered top and bottom, and left and right. Looks perfect on the preview screen, all inside the "safe area." I save the project and then output it, and burn a DVD.

When I play the DVD the title is not centered! It's a bit on the left of center. I went back and played the output MPEG in Win Media Player and get the same result!

Tried looking at the HELP, and couldn't find anything. Tried the search feature here and couldn't find anything, so that tells me I'm searching for the wrong criteria because SURELY someon else has had this problem, eh?

Help!

I do recall one other instance of this happening before, albeit with a previous version. Unfortunately, I do not remember the outcome. Keep searching. Hopefully you find it or somebody will remember that topic.

EDIT: Did a search for "title and center" and it came back with several results. No definitive answer though, so I guess you'll have to read thru them and give 'em a try.

Jeff . . . First, and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS on your promotion to Moderator. <applause> <popping corks> You have helped me more times than I can count, as well as a myriad of regular posters and newbs alike. Good job!

My search was not "title and center," as you suggested, but rather, "X2 Multiple title center" which explains why I couldn't find anything. :( This has to be fixed and I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and sort through the much larger number of hits I'm sure a less restrictive search will provide. Ugh. Gotta do what ya gotta do!

Thanks, and again, Kudos on all your fine efforts!

Regards,

Hi.. Just my 2 cents.. I had a problem almost like that one, but not with a title. My problem was a image I changed (new shape), but after the rendering, things would not update.

What I realised was that sometimes videostudio does not update the temp files, and ends up recording things based on old temp files..

What I ended up doing, was going to my documents and deleted all temp files.

I think you can do it too, by pressing the garbage can on the menu while seting up the DVD record.

I deleted does files, did a new encode and enverything worked as it should!

Thanks, Zorza, but it didn't do anything to help.

Now, one and all, here's a more baffling twist to it . . . today, because it's the only thing I can think of that I didn't NOT try, I replaced the multiple title with a single/regular title and then rendered it. Same result - title was a bit off center to the left in the resulting file!!

I hate doing it, but does anyone have any idea whether a re-install would work? I mean, is there any reason a faulty install would be causing any type of title to render off center?

This is baffling :? :? :?

TIA,

Okay, forgot to mention something and also had an idea . . .

The project properties are NTSC MPEG. 4:3.

When I render, I render to the same thing. The choice at the bottom of the drop-down.

I'm attaching a couple of screen shots to show you what I'm talking about . . .

This first one is a screen grab after editing, and BEFORE rendering. The title looks centered from left to right.

Image

Now, this last screen shot is taken from the rendered video. Notice how the title is left of center?

Image

So what gives????? Why on earth is this happening? :?: :?: :?:

I also notice that the title in the rendered file is not nearly as sharp as the pre-rendered file. I think you might have some settings amiss somewhere.

What are your clip, project, and output properties?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for trying to help . . .

PROJECT PROPERTIES:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

OUTPUT PROPERTIES: (Using the standard NTSC DVD 4:3 choice on menu)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)

The second screen grab, above, that you say is a bit fuzzy was from the MPEG that was outputted at the above rates.

Hi

X2 has suffered from several strange problems fixed by updating Direct X.
See the announcement at the top of this forum for link.

If you haven¡¦t done this then its worth the effort.

Thanks for the idea, Trevor!

Downloaded the update, ran it, and re-booted.

Called up the project file and rendered the first portion of it where the title is.

Same @#$$@ result!

I have no idea how to fix this.

Totally clueless I am . . .

Progress!!!!!

I just tried making a centered title using VS 10 - same perfect centering in the video project timeline (see 1st photo above) and exact SAME left of center alignment in the rendered movie file (see 2nd photo above)!!!'

If the same problem exists using Pro X2 and VS 10+, then it can't be a VS problem, right? It has to be some other problem . . .

But what?

Help, before I have no hair left . . .

Do you have the latest grapics card drivers?

I seem to recall problems with ATI all in Wonder cards...but that could be something else I remember.

Hi

Just viewed the properties you supplied earlier, are these correct.
The default template from share create video file usually uses LPCM audio, you indicate Digital Dolby.
Saying that I don¡¦t think the properties will affect this title problem.

Just to understand your work flow:-

1/
I assume you edit a project, then ¡¥share create video file¡¦.
The resultant file can be played in VS or any media player.
Does this show the problem.
If yes then repeat the render process with smart render turned off. (press the ¡¥options¡¦ button from the create video file window)

Or

2/
You edit the project and share create disc, the project is rendered in the burner module.
You cannot view the pre-rendered file, but the dvd shows the problem.

And
If you create a text/title in a new empty project, no video content.
Does the rendered file have the same problem (share create video file)

Clevo . . . Thanks for the idea. My bad . . . I changed graphics cards but didn't update my profile. I now have an ATI Radeon X300 card. Will go update the drivers to make sure. Thanks!

Thanks, again, Trevor for trying to help . . . The properties are correct.

When I'm creating the video, the last item on the drop down is "custom" and when you choose that you get the LPCM audio. I've been using the "NTSC DVD 4:3" a couple of options above "custom" and that has the Dolby audio. I agree, the audio shouldn't affect the problem I'm having, but as desperate as I am, I created a video using the "custom" option. Same result - title is left of center.

Workflow . . . Yes, the resulting file shows the problem on both the computer and the old TV & DVD player (analog).

I always turn smart render off.

I do not use VS to author and burn my DVDs. When VS first came out with the burning module it had a bunch of problems. So, I looked around and found an authoring program that I still use and fire up Nero to burn to disk. Still use that sequence.

Great idea about creating the text/title in a new project by itself! Step ahead of you - same result with the rendered file.

Can I be the only one with this problem??????

Having said that, I'll update the graphics driver and see what that does. Other than that, I have no idea what do try and tweak in VS or the system.

No. As I stated earlier if you search for "title and center" it comes back with at least 4 hits, one going back to v9.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/search.php?mode=results

None of them seem to give a solution.

Since so few seem to have this problem it leads me to think it is a hardware (graphics card?) conflict.
I changed graphics cards but didn't update my profile.
Did you have this problem before you change graphics card?
