It might be worthwhile to extract a couple of seconds of the problematic video clip and make it available ot Ulead so they can identify and fix the problem.

I'd personally also be interested in looking at it to see if I can reproduce the problem.

I can, but how do I go about posting it?

You could post it on the web somewhere where we can look at it, and/or send the file to tech support. I would contact them and either get an e-mail address or FTP login you can use for sending the file.

I guess I can not post the problematic clip!

It is the proverbial catch 22; If I can create video file to extract a segment, then I would not be asking about a solution.

Every time I try to extract the segment, my system crashes.

All I can do now is avoid extreme white sequences for now!

Don't rely on 7.0 either

Before anyone uninstalls 8.0 and goes back to 7.0, just wanted to warn you that I've now had the exact same problem as noted in this thread with my 7.0. I'm running this older version b/c it was bundled w/ the ADS Instant DVD 2.0 hardware. Like the other person, I've successfully rendered this same video previously w/ no problems. I've added no new software since the last render a week ago. Now all of a sudden, it crashes halfway through the render. :(

pamelmmc,

I recall having the same problem in v7.0. What helped at the time was a new sceneDLL.dll supplied by ulead.

Did you update to v7.01? I think it was suppose to fix that???

At this point in time I am not certain the crash during the render process is the fault of the uvsepa.dll module as identified in the error message.

What I am finding is a correlation with hard disk activity during the crash. I had just rendered a project and the progress bar indicated 99% complete and it was finializing the save to disk when the crash occured.

I reviewed the .mpg which it created and it looked fine.

I tried to redo the projects that I first noted this problem with and the render still crashes but again I noted hard drive activity during the crash.

I preserved the temp file UVS was creating. I opened the file and compared to the progress bar numbers and it does save right up to the crash point.

I have identified the problem!

I recorded hours and hours of Satellite TV and tried to reproduce the error. Please no comments about copyright infringements!

While rendering a complete segment without editing, there would be an occasional crash. Nothing stood out which caused the crash. Although, if I also run the split by scene, it generates the error at exactly the same spot. The spot that causes the error is definitely a scene change!

I then edited a clip! I found natural transitions between scenes and cut them at that point. I inserted another clip and then tried to render. The error occurs at almost every cut.

I then inserted a 3 frame crossfade transition between the clips and it renders OK with every test clip I have tried. I tried 2 frame crossfades but that did not work. It has to be 3 or more frames to work!

I have used this approach successfully on all the projects that I could not render because of the uvsepa.dll crash.

Rhonda,
Great detective work. Can you get this info to Ulead Tech Support? I think the software development team might be able to do something with the information. Maybe HTChein could facilitate getting it directly to the developers in Taiwan...

I sent this info to both Customer Service and Tech Support.

I have received the customary replies stating “We may need more time to provide you the proper solution for your inquiry.”

At least they got the info so now we wait and see!
