Rendering clip for ditial picture frame mov, avi or mpeg1

I took some movie clips on my Lumix 'stills' camera and transferred them to my hard drive. They appear as .mov files and the quality is good when I play them back on my computer. I've copied some of these files onto the memory card that fits into the back of my Kodak digital picture frame and they play well there too.
I've edited some of the clips in VS and now want to get this edited footage onto the Kodak digital frame. The box proudly tells me that the frame will play mov, avi, mpeg1 and mpeg4. And I know that's at least partly true as I can play the unedited mov files without any problem.
But here is a problem. How do I get the edited mov files into one of the formats accepted by the digital frame and retain decent quality? I've managed to convert to mpeg1 and to mpeg4 and they both play but there is a lot of quality loss and the clip just doesn't look as good as when it started out as individual mov files.
Any answers?
