"conversion failed"

Post by ballyupnorth »

I have successfully converted 6 videos to mpeg4 for my youtube site www.youtube.com/ballyupnorth

I am now trying to convert my next video and keep getting a "conversion failed" message .... I cannot see any reason why this will not work?

Any ideas at all folks  ?

Many Thanks

And

PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

these are the project properties of my video and I am trying to convet to MPEG4 for youtube ... not had any problems in the past although not been able to convert via "share" as yet - have down loaded previous vids director through youtube once I have converted the file to mpeg4

could it be a m,emory/cache issue perhaps?

Now you have me confused. In your first post you say you successfully converted 6 videos to MPEG4, but now you just said "although not been able to convert via "share" as yet". How, then, did you convert the first 6 videos?

apologies Jeff....

I successfully converted previous vids to mpeg 4 and then downloaded them to youtube direct through youtube

I have tried the share tab to youtube but have not been successful with that option ...

this is the first vid that has not converted successfully to mpeg4 and I cannot see any reason why - it loads up ok and plays ok ... but will not convert?

Ok, so VS renders to a MPEG4 fine, but the resulting file cannot be automatically uploaded to YouTube.

I have not yet used this new YouTube feature. Does it work if you try another file type, such as WMV?

Ok, so back to the info. You gave the project properties, but what are the properties of the clips you are trying to convert. Right click on a clip and post here.

If you try to convert another video that was previously successful does it work? Or do you still receive the error message ?

Yeah the new one does seem to be the problem.
Have you tried another converter other than converting with VS maybe Super ?

If only the new project will not convert then obviously there is something in the project that is causing the problem. Could be a video clip. Are you using audio clips, transitions, video filters, etc? Any of these can be corrupt.

You may have to use trial and error until you find it. For example, let's say the project that is not working is called Project A. Open Project A and delete the first half of it. Now Save As Project B. Open Project A again (this will still be the whole project) and delete the last half of it and Save As Project C. Now open Project B and see if it will render. If not, repeat with the cutting in half and renaming until you can render successfully. You will then narrow down to where the corrupt file is. Repeat with Project C if necessary.

Another option is to remove all the audio clips, then try to render. If it does, great, then you found the problem. If not, remove the transitions, and so on.
