Photoimpact 12SE - impossible to "extract objects"

Post by jozefleon@hotmail.com »

Greetings.
I use Photoimpact 12 SE and want to cut out an object from an image.
The tutorial tells me to use "extract object" from the "object" - menu.
But in my version there is no item "extract object" present in the object
pull down menu??
Does anyone know how I can get this menu item to appear ?
Thanks in advance for any help

SE versions - correct terminology is "Special Edition" but we here prefer it's alternative "Simple Edition."

SE versions are not the full thing - various bits are missing and those missing bits vary according to who provided it.
As an example see a post I made only a few minutes ago regarding Is Ulead DVD Movie Factory 5 (for Toshiba) for me ??? - OK a different Corel Product but the message is the same - missing bits.

I would have expected even a SE version of PhotoImpact to include the extract object function - but from the other post I mentioned here you will also see I would have expected MovieFactory to include JPG images.

IF the function exists in your copy of PhotoImpact 12 it is found here:

Thanks most sincerely for your prompt reply.
I already suspected I had a kind of slimmed down OEM version and ...
well now it's confirmed..

Thanks once more

PS. Is there any other photoimpact tool that would do approximately the same job : cut out a form - let's say the shape of a person ?

Yes, you could use one of the Selection Tools. For example the Lasso or Bezier Curve.
