X2 Pro Trial vs Full version...

I've been looking for the best video editor and the VSX2 Pro is one of the programs I have tested and liked... now I am wondering, what is the difference between ther trial and full version of VSX2 Pro.. what would I be missing.. what are the contents of the content pack and bonus pack of the full version?

Typically the trial version only gives you a few transitions, video filters, menu templates, etc. The full version, of course, has many many more.

The content pack and bonus pack contain those "extras" as well as some software extras like WinDVD.

so typically the content pack is different from the bonus pack?? So they are separate packs?

Can I get them for a trial user or are they only for Full version user? OMG! I am getting excited about videostudio =D

TBYB (trial) versions:

Only are active for up to 30 days
Have a limited number of templates available
May not include editing the latest high-def formats such as AVCHD
Limited Sample files
Fully Functional, meaning you can perform all tasks, such as capture, edit, share, created DVDs

Full or Upgrade Versions:

Not time limited
At least 170 Transitions, most of which are customizable
Includes the New Blue Film Filter effects
155 Video Filters
Bonus Files include, Audio (animal, cartoon, electronic, gun, machine, music, people, rain, ring, sound, sports, and traffic sounds), Images (background, frame, object, and theater background images), Tutorial, Video, and WinDVD8 Silver.
Content files would include all the content needed to for the program to function, including but not limited to AVControlSDK, FlashPlayer, SmartSound, WMEncoder.
VideoPaint feature, where you can paint on your video. This is very similar to the Video Paint that was provided with VideoGraphics Lab, and was included with the former MediaStudio Pro 7.

I'm not sure what you are looking for when you ask, what you would be missing...

Since you have the trial version installed, it is highly recommended that you first uninstall the trial version. Purchase the full (upgrade if you have a qualifying earlier version), then install it. The activation of trial versions cause problems with updates, patches and fixes.

With trial versions the bonus, or extra content will not install to them. They are meant for the full versions only...

oh.. I see.. so I can't really try bonus on trials... so the full version really has a lot of bonus than the trial one... cool.. I probably should think about it... so one last question... this question should really help me with how much feature there is in full version.. sound a little unlogical but.. I'll try =D

Based on file size the Trial is 172mb in size (installer).. how about the full one? how big is it? (without the content and bonus pack)

If you like VideoStudio so much, and want to use it longer than 30 days, then you will have to upgrade to the full version. After 30 days the trial version is locked and you will not be able to use it at all.

Why is the size of such importance? Do you have hard drive space issues? If so, then you should really look into getting another HD, either internal or external, because video files themselves take up a lot or room, plus VS needs at least double the project size to process the project.

nope... i have about 20gb left space here... is that enoguh? anyway.. I am asking about the file size between full and trial version's installer to know how much more feature the full version has.. =D (sounds a little unlogical right?) But most of the time it works for me.. =D

so.. Anybody knows what is the file size of the installer of the full version without the content and bonus pack? (I am confused too.. so content pack and bonus pack are different file updates? or just the same?) and if you dont mind

the size of those two packs too.. =D I hope I am not such a bother here =D LOL

No, not nearly enough. Just to give you an idea, I have 2-internal HDD, totalling 550 gig, of which each has about 160 gig free, then 1-external HDD, that is a 500 gig drive, of which there is still about 320 gig free space.

I too don't see why you want to base a purchasing decision on how big the installer file is. Makes absolutely no sense. You do not get any bonus content, any extras, or all of the content files with trial versions. Trial versions are meant to give you a taste of what the program looks, feels, and acts like. If you like it, then buy it. You'll then get all the "bells & whistles".

I went to the extent of actually going through the Effects, and Video Filters counting them so that you would have an accurate accounting of those. Now I don't know what else you need to make an informed decision, that can be provided here.

I have currently Video Studio -SE installed and am thinking about getting X2. Here are my concerns:
1. Do I need to uninstall the SE edition before installing X2?
2. Will I lose any/all projects saved?
3. Will X2 allow a *.mov to be placed on the timeline?

Just trying to be cautious....

Hi BroBill,

What SE version do you have installed? You shouldn't need to remove it, as each version is a complete stand-alone. You can only run 1 version at time, but have several versions installed.

To be safe I would back up any Libraries that you may have created, or customized. Do a search on the VideoStudio forum for "video Library" or "video libraries" and you should find info related to them.

You should not loose any project files. These are VSP files, and most likely are found in your My Documents folder under the VS version folder there. When you install a new version it creates it's own under the My Documents folder.

Yes you can insert MOV files, however be forewarned they're not the easiest to successfully edit. This is especially true if they were created using QT Pro. I've take a couple of short clips shot on my Kodak P880, and edited them in VS.

If you look at my sig block below, it shows all the VS versions I currently have installed on my XP machine, 8 through 12.

Welcome to the forums!

Please view:
Copy Transitions (Burger / Boris etc) from VS11 to VSX2
and
Copy Templates and Libraries from VS11 to VSX2

Many of these things are also backwards compatible also - in other words many (but not all) of the menus, sample videos, sample sounds etc. will work with VideoStudio 7 / 8 / 9 etc.
