Best 640X480 video for email

I am a new videostudio pro x2 user, and wonder what the best looking format for most windows users that will result in the best quality 640 X 480 video with the smallest size. My 1 or 2 minute videos and/or video slide shows need to wind up less than 15 mb for email.

Experimenting has shown me that avi divx seems to come out fairly small, but not everyone on the other end has dvx decoder and some only seem to hear audio.

I have tried quicktime, but there are way too many compression choices. Which work the best.

Some of my files do start out as compressed mov files from my canon sx10 camera, but many are just slideshows from jpg pictures.

I have tried wmv, which is not too bad either, but most of the choices seem to be 320 X 240

Also, when I go into the Customize portion of the options in wmv and try to change the resolution, I seem to always get an error message.

Wouldn't it be easier to post them on Youtube?

I agree that using YouTube, Veoh, or some video hosting site would be much easier.

Most videos that are circulated via email are done so in WMV format. The main reason is that a viewer is supplied on almost all PCs, and the quality is really not that bad.

For a decent WMV file, I would just use the 320 x 240. Trying to email video with frame sizes any larger, will produce a file size too large to email. You could try using the WMV-Zune 640 x 480 and see how large a file it produces.

You could also try MPEG-1, 640 x 480, and a bitrate of around 4000. For a short video, this should produce a fairly small file.
