Two more features, please

Post by prazim »

Hi,
I would like to request that in the next version, when one goes to resize the canvas, the NEW dimensions would autofill with the existing dimensions and could be then adjusted as needed. Right now, PSP in not autofilling those fileds with the data which matches the existing image, which means a lot of extra keying.

Also, we need robust batch conversion and processing. For example, pspimage to pspframe. Also, to be able to create a frame and mask treatment and batch a selection of images or entire folder with that treatment. This type of function is nearly possible with some batch watermark tools, but one needs to take that the next step to enable images to be placed behind and around existing images, not just over them as in a watermarking process.

Thanks,
Sue

I use tags a lot to organize my images. So far, the system is (unless I use it wrong) pretty primitive. What about being able to click on a current tag to add to new photos (instead of typing it in to the box---grrrrr, typing errors have cost me!) Also, what about selecting photos with multiple tags.... ie only those with Hawaii and Beach as tags.... right now, as soon as you hit Hawaii, all the photos show up.

Smart Frames, please

Post by prazim »

In the next version of PSP it would be wonderful to have a "smart frames" feature whereby one could construct a frame by specifying the components (corners, sides, and central top and bottom pieces) and PSP would then apply that selection to an image by replicating and automatically sizing the components, as required to fit the image.

Ideally, one would be able to also specify the width of the frame itself in pixels, as one does with borders (23px, 33 px, etc), and Smart Frames would then scale each piece to be proportionate.

The color treatment of the frame would need to be incorporated into this somehow as well.

As picture tubes are a robust feature of PSP today, it would be great if one could use tubes as part of constructing smart frame pieces as well.
Thanks,
Sue

thumbnails and corners

Post by prazim »

More and more often, I am using the organizer in full window mode as it is more efficient in scrolling through folders to find an image. It would be great if when one moused over an image in the organizer, a pop up window of user-specified size presented a larger thumbnail of the image.

I'd love to be able to select an image or drawing and specify "rounded corners." This would have to be carried through to each layer of the image treatment, obviously, or it would look strange.
Thanks,

Organizer functionality

Post by prazim »

It would be great if in the Organizer, we could add folders to our smart collections, or even have a frequent folders section. Right now, one is unable to add sub-directories to the folders view, so, if an identified folder contains many subfolders, one must scroll through it each time one needs to reach one of the frequently used subfolders.

It would be great if the Organizer offered dynamic updates to previews. With the organizer open to a specific folder, if an image is added to that folder, it doesn't present it until one navigates on another folder then comes back to it, or using the refresh function.

In adding folders to the Organizer, it uses the actual name for the folder and doesn't allow a nickname nor pop up a path. In this case, the names it presents aren't always sufficiently descriptive out of context from their parent folder.

It would be great if the Organizer worked with CodeSector's Direct Folders.

Thanks,
Sue

Smart import of photoshop brushes

Post by prazim »

As I peruse the web, I am encountering quite a number of sites that offer stunning brushes - that can't be imported in the current version of PSP. Many are being offered for the current version of that other image editor and although abrviewer can convert them to png's, it is simply too time consuming a process if one has a large number of brushes to convert.

May I request a smart importer for brushes in the next PSP?
Thanks,
Sue

Hello,
I'm a new PSP user and have recently bought the X2 ultimate version..

I'm coming from some years using The Gimp but now I needed some extra power and PSP was the right choice for me.

So.. I'm comparing PSP with the gimp and even if PSP is more powerful there are some things that I miss from the gimp..

some have been already told in this topic, so I'll quote them to give them a "+1" .. I'm also quite sure that I'll have more suggestion as I'll use it.. but for now:
allicorn wrote:-More Layer Styles.
-Numeric controls in Layer Styles.
LeviFiction wrote:Render Clouds.
This is a great filter when you have to do abstracts. I'm used to the plasma / clouds filter of the gimp..
Tim Morrison wrote:-Improved working with gradients. More control of direction and placement by applying them by drawing them on an image. Enveloping of a gradient to a selection.
- Paragraph text
- Protexis licensing services running, and installing them without fully informing the users, causes much fear, uncertainty and doubt. Corel needs to be completely up front and honest about the whole process, so that their users know that it isn't spyware and that it isn't impacting on performance.
- More layer styles and numeric controls to make all layer style effects accurate, reproducible and capable of being described in a tutorial.
prazim wrote:The animation tool isn't bundled with PSP, which is fine
well.. imho this is not 100% fine :p .. I mean that they should had put it at least in the ultimate bundle. With the Gimp I can animate gifs .. that is not something I do very often and probably the animation shop is more powerful and/or easy to use.. but PSP should at least have some basic integrated animation feature. (and it was convinced that PSP already had it.. too much convinced that I didn't checked.. anyway not a big problem)
OldRadioGuy wrote:Add more online support
This is a good point as the community and the community resources are very important for any software..

Other things:
- When I move a layer or something else it would be nice to being able of locking the move action holding down the shift key so that I can just move it vertical or horizontal

- Resizeable selections with drag n drop (now you can do this with the pick tool but it creates a promoted selection and so on..). I'd like to have it works like it is in the gimp 2.6 (mh, I could try to explain this better if you want)

- On rounded rectangle, being able to decide which corners to round

- Full support for photoshop brushes or at least for non-animated ones (the gimp can open them)

As I wrote.. I'll write more if I'll have other suggestions..

The first ones I listed (allicorn + LeviFiction's) are very important to me.

bye,
Giovanni.

I'd like more advanced PEN tool options please. Like fading in and out (starts at X amount of pixels, and fades out to 0px). I'd like do to some more advanced stuff but can't.

8) I would love to be able to see all PSP images when you click on the folder to bring something into PSP. I do not like having to use the organizer to view and bring things into PSP. So much so in fact that I am fixing to take PSP X off and put my PSP XII Ultimate back on which I don't like cause you have that stupid removal of being able to keep the re-sizer on that last resize that you did. I also wish they would bring back the ability to keep what you just typed to stay there so if you needed to adjust something you would not have to write what you had already written before and having to do this sometimes many times before you get the kerning adjusted or whatever other adjustments you might have to do because each font is so different. This was just the dumbest thing I had ever seen. I love PSP and I know many different types use it but sometimes things are just better left alone. They have added many good things too. When I started writing this I had some things to put down and then my mind went blank. hmmm.... Rats.
