A crash like that, where sectors of your HDD are damaged and needed repaired, about the only options are, System Restore and reinstalling programs. System Restore probably will not work, because VS may have been using some sectors that were damaged, and repaired. When those disk sectors are repaired, data in those sectors are most often lost, unless you used special software that can retrieve and relocate the data to new sectors.
You can try doing a repair install to see if this corrects it. Repair installs, just over-writes the program, which should replace any lost or corrupt files. The video filters are found in
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserNameHere\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0\Video Filter folder on XP machines.

To do a repair install, the installation files must be on your system, ie; the setup.exe et-al...
If you purchased the "boxed" version, then you should get the repair option when you go to the add/remove, if you have the CD inserted into the CD tray. Sometimes windows add/remove will only show the remove option on the button, however pressing it, may pick up the repair option. If it doesn't, and you don't want to reinstall, then just cancel it. However in windows add/remove the button should show Change/Remove.
Did you also try the suggestions found in the thread I linked to above?

Hi vidoman
I can't repair because i only get the option to uninstall. I have the download version of x2 ultimate.
I tried the other option and created a new user and started x2 under that user name. Then i coped the new VFilter.rsf from that profile into my normal xp profile I use for video editing. My x2 is now working properly and all my video filters are back
Thanks for all the help.

Nunk...to get to the repair function you need to use your installation CD, start it up and use the option to
"Install" then the menu asks you a couple of questions..anwer them, and it will give you two options "remove" or "repair"...click on "repair"
Just for future reference

Nunk.
BEFORE trying a repair installation try doing this.
Using Windows Explorer locate the following folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0
Rename it to
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0X
Restart VideoStudio.
(Change Stephen to your Windows User Name.)
THANK YOU!!!
