PI X3 and Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2

Post by Sandgroper »

Does anyone know whether PI as a separate entity will continue to exist or will it be subsumed by Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2? Does anyone know how the two compare? :?:

Both programs are very similar in nature though have an obvious different look about them - mainly the left hand column in Paint shop Pro which seems to provide a help or wizard driven appearance.

I don't know what future plans Corel have but the most up to date version of PhotoImpact for sale online in Europe and the U.K. is a version (PhotoImpact 12) behind the most up to date Version (PhotoImpact X3)

Judging from this, it would appear that Corel is slowly discontinuing most of the former Ulead brands. MSP, DVDWS2, Cool3D, GIF Animator, are just a few of the ones that they finally admitted to dropping.

Here's what's real puzzling and why I posted in this thread. PI X3 has been out for almost a year now in the US, Australia, and some other locations, however never been released in the UK/Europe. DVD MF 7 Pro was released in Australia, at least 6 months ago, however not any where else. Is this how Corel is killing the products? This is a real pet peeve of mine when corporations do this...

There are rumours......just rumours that they'll create a product from both.

However, these programs are quite different.

I much prefer PI over PSP. PI does so much more, in a more simpler form, less steps to an end result. There's so many, many things that PSP cannot do that PI can.

I do hope Corel have some foresight and wisdom and keep PI going by upgrading.

They really need to LISTEN to their customers.

For what it is worth, Ron, Ken and myself HAVE been bugging Corel about the (non) availability of the most up to date version of PhotoImpact in the UK and Europe, the most up to date version of MovieFactory in the U.S. and we also previously made our feelings known about the fact that VideoStudio Ultimate is not being offered in the U.S.

Hi guys

Thanks for your emails and the points you make.

I'm afraid I cannot enter in to discussion about business decisions and product priorities with you but will help when I can

Best regards
