Multiple clips while editing ?

Ok so I have three angles / camera views in my time line that I have sync'd up. While viewing them they start to run slow and choppy after like 1 minute.

Any reason for this? The clips are on an external drive connected USB to my PC.

Isnt my system beefy enough?

Using X2 mine runs similarly, except it starts out choppy for a few seconds then finally plays normally. VS10 runs much smoother when I have multiple timelines going.

You can always use HQ playback and, if you don't want to render the whole thing for HQ playback, simply set a preview range.

Have the files transfered to internal HDD. USB drives are slow

Ah yes. Missed that. My external is connected via firewire.

Tried that but they are choppy as hell. I have SATA drives. I have no idea why they do that I had posted about 2 weeks ago when I capture to my internal they get choppy and went to my external.

Ugh

To see if it is an issue with the amount of data being streamed along the esata cable, try rendering a small portion of the video and see how it then plays back.

I don't know if I am just unlucky but I recently added another external drive to one of my desktop computers. This drive is a Western Digital 500GB "My Book" and can be connected by 3 methods.
1. USB2
2. Firewire
3. Esata.

Strangely the only connection that works reliably is the USB2 which technically is the feeblest of the 3 available methods.
With Firewire and even with Esata the drive would either freeze or lose connection. With USB2 it works perfectly and is turned on permanently 24/7.

I just lined them up and slowly moved through the 3 time lines and edit them, once they become one time line it rolled along good ( no choppyness) and I'm happy with it for now, just painfully slow but this is also a good thing cause I capture the right transitions.
