Missing DVD export

Post by tavideos »

I just reinstalled MSP8 after not using it for a couple of years, to many crashes. I reinstalled because I wanted to use MovieFactory to burn some clips to HD DVD. After the install, I open up MSP8 and went to file/export and there's not an option for 'dvd export'. I went to the MSP8 folder and couldn't find anything related to MF. This install exe. was an upgrade purchase to VS7 and Workshop.

Did the MSP8 upgrade not include MF? I know the trial version doesn't include it.

Brought back a lot of memories when I opened up MSP8, I always liked the interface :D .

Use Create, then select MPEG, then DVD as your format

Thanks Devil.

When I go to 'create' I have the option to select 'video' then the pop-up box to name the file and select the type. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "Use Create, then select MPEG, then DVD as your format"

I want to create and author an HD dvd from an already edited mt2 file.

Do you know why my copy of MSP8 does not have MF imbedded within? Is MF in a different install package from MSP8?

Hi, Tavideos:

If you select "File/Export/DVD Authoring", MSP will ask you to select a video file - then it will open DVD Movie Factory with that file...

You can also find the binary for DVD Movie Factory (assuming you used the default location) in "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0\DVD Authoring\DVDMF.exe".

I don't recall if this installs from the first (MSP8_Full) or second (MSP8_Content) installation file (assuming you're using the downloaded version) - I always install both.

I hope this helps.

AFAIK, MSP8 comes with a cut-down version of MF4, well dated now. If you click on Switch, does it mention a version of DVD Authoring app.?

I haven't a clue what mt2 is. As MF4 antedates HD, I doubt whether it will ever recognise mt2 as DVD-compatible. You must render to 480i or 576i MPEG-2 for these old apps. to consider them as DVD-compatible, I believe.

I would suggest you try the latest version of VS Pro X2 (you can download a trial). It is possible that it can handle HD better. I would say you need at least a program that can handle BluRay well to do it.

Hi asande and thanks.

The problem is there isn't a "File/Export/DVD Authoring", There is a "File/Export" but "DVD Authoring" is not one of the choices. Looks like MF did not install with MSP8. That's what I would like to find something out about.

Did you install the "content disk" as well as the "full disk"? I suspect the DVD authoring app is on the content disk. I don't think the content disk is included with the trial version (if that's where you're starting from).

I purchased the download version of MSP8 and both of these "disks" (actually archive files) were included, but had to be downloaded separately.

I hope this helps...

Yeah, that's what I have as well. I installed MSP8, then the update and then the contents. But this was an upgrade purchase to VS, don't know if that's the difference or not.

No difference it is the same upgrade as if you were upgrading from MediaStudio 7 (or earlier).

Check what the other poster has suggested to see if MovieFactory 4 has installed by checking the Directory Tree in Windows Explorer. If it has installed you can create a shortcut link in your Windows Start Menu in the normal way. If it has not installed then perhaps you need to run the installer again. If you purchased a set up disk it normally includes a repair option.
