Uninstall of MSP (and other Ulead product)

Post by Wim Kok »

Recently I saw a post written by Steve where he gave an explanation on the subject of uninstall MSP8 (or any other Ulead product). I can¡¦t find this post anymore and my question to Steve is whether he can send this post again. Obviously it¡¦s an important info on the path one has to go in order not to fight with hidden remains. Thank you in advance Steve.

My technique (which may not be the same as Steve's) is (using MSP as the example):

1. Uninstall the application
2. Search everywhere for files/folders entitled MSP or MediaStudio and delete everything, including the folders, if files. If no other Ulead apps are on the computer, you may also use Ulead as a keyword.
3. Use Registrar Lite (free) to search MSP. Select the whole list of >100 items that comes up and delete the whole lot in one fell swoop. Then do the same for MediaStudio and, if appropriate, Ulead.
4. Use RegistryMechanic (paid, full version) to remove any odds and sods that are left.

This should do the maximum, even though it does not remove some encrypted keys from the registry, which are unidentifiable. Of course, it may be wise to set up a registry backup or a restore point or both before you start.
