Please help! audio out of sync, & VS 11 plus not respond

I have had no problems up until a few days ago. It started when an 'unable to load library' notice came up in in VS11 plus, when the marker on the time line hit a crossfade and photo. I couldn't open any photos because it said 'it may be copywrite protected or there may not be enough memory'. There was plenty of memory and none of the photos are protected. An uninstall fixed this, but have had to do it a few times when it happens again.

Now I have just burned several DVDs and the last 2 have audio out of sync. The rendered files play fine in Videostudio editor, but then when I view then in Movie wizard window they are out of sync. All video files are out of sync here now, where they never were before, and now they burn out of sync. I have been burning using VS9 for the last year because VS11 plus movie wizard would crash at the chapter phase. I have just tried going through VS11 plus again, but when I get to the template screen nothing at all is highlighted so I can't go anywhere. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both VS9 and VS11 plus, but nothing is changing, I am at a complete loss.

I follow all the usual guidelines, rendering in Video editor, burning to disk via Movie wizard, LFF, PAL DVD, 16:9, Var 8000, etc... and have had no trouble up until now. The footage is a mix from DV and converted to PAL DVD mpeg2

I am using Windows XP, SP2, 1.5GB RAM, Gateway Laptop.

What guideline are you following..

I follow all the usual guidelines, rendering in Video editor, burning to disk via Movie wizard, LFF, PAL DVD, 16:9, Var 8000, etc...

I'm not familiar with such a workflow, unless you call the Share>Create Video File a Movie Wizard.

If you're jumping from the editor straight into the burn module, using a project file (Share>Create Disc), then try creating a video file of your project first.

The error you're getting with your photo, may not be related directly to a photo, but the hard drive, or partition where the photo is located. The only time I've seen that error, with any version, is when I've forgotten to copy photos or video to my hard drive from a DVD or CD. At some point VS would throw such an error, because ROM drives (CD/DVD) are Read-Only. You might also check the attributes of the photo files to make sure they have not been somehow marked as read-only. Right-click on the photo file, and select Properties. It should not have a check beside Read-Only.

Yes I do create a video file first, then close down videostudio and reopen the file in Movie wizard to burn to DVD.

The photos are not read only, they have never been. Basically when it happens I unistall then reinstall and this temporarily solves the issue.

Why are going backwards? Movie Wizard seems to be a step before the editor. After creating your video file, simply select File>New Project and then go directly to the Share step, and select Create Disc. This opens the burn module. Now insert your video files, add/edit any chapters, build your menus, and burn. I would also burn DVD folders to check if everything, such as audio/video sync is ok, before actually burning a disc.

I am doing it the way I have always done, but now it is giving me grief. I have removed all the software from my computer and reinstalled and seems to be working fine, albeit with the problems I have previously had but just work around.

This is what's confusing me, where in the Movie Wizard does it allow you to Create Chapters, and then also Burn a DVD? The Movie Wizard always dumps into the Editor. The only time I open the Movie Wizard is when someone is having problems here to find a solution. I simply am not finding a way where you can burn a DVD from the Movie Wizard, let alone create Chapters.

By chapters in the Movie Wizard, could you be referring to Extract Video Segments to use, which is essentially the Multi-Trim function?

You were lucky previously.
After you have created that edited video file do NOT use the movie wizard.
Instead open VideoStudio Editor and then go straight the the [Share] tab and select [Create Disc].

Continue as per the method outlined here.

Thank you very much, I swore that was the previous suggested work-flow. So now to change. I have looked through your links and they are amazing. I am no expert on computers by any means, but looking through, I should be able to manage what is outlined for best results. I burn so much stuff and have had so many problems over the last 2-3 years with VS9 and VS11 plus. Hopefully this will resolve some of them now.
