Well done Pietro!

I was able to reproduce the problem using your steps and I can also believe that this is what I was doing when I experienced the problem.

Now, does Corel have a bug reporting system?

Very well done in tracking this down. Following your directions, I too am able to replicate this action, and it certainly fits the criteria to be a bug.

I have sent an email to Corel, reporting this, providing a link to this thread, and requesting that it be reviewed and fixed.

You might also wish to log on to Corel's website, and email them through there, reporting this behavior. Be sure to include all details, and step by step actions taken to reproduce it.

Hello.
I can not start to explain how happy I am to see that you've found out the bug!! Sometimes, I was almost scared of editing the videos, because I keept remembering the time I had spent and I was afraid I would have to do it all again..

And, my question is: How did you discovered it?

Zorza

ps. best of it all, it that now that I know what's the bug, I am able to avoid that same combination that makes things faulty!

MANY MANY THANKS!!

I have experienced the same problem with disappeared audio, spent hours to fix it and finally discovered an old culprit - the MP3 sound files.

VS simply does not like MP3 format and sometimes ignores the MP3 files or parts of them when added to the sound track.

Actually, it is only some MP3 types, most notably those of the LAME codec. I use MP3s created by iTunes and they work fine.

VS Pro X2 loses tracks

Post by markguitre »

I emailed Corel. Got an auto knee-jerk reply about installing a patch
I already had installed (Nov.2008). Emailed them again. Got a second
auto-reply about updating Direct-X, which I had already done. Emailed again.
Was told that this fix was could be complicated--not simple--and would
take some time. In the meantime, thanks to pierto for sleuthing this
bug. Doing as he said, no tracks are ever lost. :D

I'm surprised they didn't tell you to reinstall. They must have forgot that one, because that always works.

So what is the "workaround" for this problem?

I have (last night) used the timeline view with ripple editing enabled and lost audio, and titles when I re-opened a project and had to redo them all - not easy or painless!!!

I have started saving the projects with the naming conventions Steve suggested (same conventions I use, BTW  ) but haven't had a need to go back and use them (yet).

Should I be doing anything differently?

TIA,

I still lose things when inserting transitions

Post by markguitre »

I noticed it's been 7 months since the last post. I still suffer with this
problem: losing titles, music, audio, overlays, if perchance I forget, and
add a new transition with ripple editing enabled in the storyboard view.
Anyone heard anything from Corel, or have a new fix for this?

So, VS PR0 X3 is the long-awaited fix to address major bugs
found in VS PRO X2. These bugs include the loss of music, titles,
overlays, after inserting a new transition in the storyboard view;
and the infamous "transition blip" artifact.
I've been waiting over a year to get these issues resolved.
Instead of correcting problems with patches, Corel now glibly offers
a new version of VS which we are invited to purchase to get relief.
Similarly, VS PRO X4 will probably serve as the "patch" for any problems
in VS PRO X 3.
Is there any outrage out there, or is it just me?

There's no outrage because, contrary to the thread's title, most of these problems are not a "bug".

From Wiki:
A software bug is the common term used to describe an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result
If a bug is caused by faulty programming, then it shouldn't it effect everyone who uses the software? While I agree the AVCHD bllips are a widespread problem, I think it's more of a problem with the AVCHD format itself, as many editors have problems with it. As for the other problems mentioned, I have not experienced any of them.

Outraged

Post by markguitre »

There is outrage--if not, there should be. Corel requested users to send in
clips having this transition blip. After over a year, instead of resolving this, they shamelessly advertise a new edition (Pro X3).

Hi

I've complained about the blips on VS2, basically to be told they will not be fixed ever and to upgrade (i.e. give Corel more money) to VS3 which is worse in some areas where authoring is concerned. Why should I pay for a fix for something that shouldn't have been broken in the first place?

The last Corel product I buy ever.

Regards

Phil
