Bug report

Post by spitfire_ch »

Hi,

All2HD looks great and I truly love this feature. However, there's a problem with it:

1) few minutes after you've started playback, video starts to lag behind audio by about half a second. If I press Pause and then start again, it's fine for maybe another minute, then the problem is back. I've tested SPDIF and 6 speakers (analogue). The problem occurs in both cases. Only when I choose PalTruSpeed and then restart WinDVD, audio and video remain in sync, BUT (or because) ...

2) ... I only get stereo signal when PalTruSpeed is activated (after restarting WinDVD, otherwise it has no effect at all. Again, this is independent of whether I choose SPDIF or 6 speakers.

3) Another thing that is mildly annoying: WinDVD never remembers the speaker volume settings. It always sets everything to max, and even changes the windows settings. So, whenever I use WinDVD, I have to fine adjust the volume settings again to match my speaker setting.

Suggestion: Just use windows volume settings instead of a default value that doesn't work for everyone. Usually, if a user adjust the volume settings in windows, he does it on purpose and would like to use it for all applications. It makes no sense to mess that up every time WinDVD is started.

It would be awesome and very much appreciated if this problems could be fixed. This would truly make WinDVD the leader of software DVD players!

Thank you very much and kind regards

edit: Maybe I've found a workarround for the out-of-sync problem:

- start your movie with all2hd enabled
- switch on PalTrueSpeed WITHOUT restarting WinDVD
-> audio and video are in sync again (at least for the duration of testing) and you still get multichannel audio as long as you don't restart.
- Before you close WinDVD: disable PalTrueSpeed

But clearly, this is still not how it's meant to be:
- audio and video should not get out of sync independent of whether PalTrueSpeed is activated or not
- If PalTrueSpeed is activated, it should not abolish mutlichannel sound after restarting WinDVD.

-> This needs to be fixed! Please!
