Alludo USER to USER Web Board

I have not used VS10+ for several months and now I am unable to launch it. I uninstalled it, and then re-installed it using vs10_tbyb_e_na. I then tried to install vs10_contentpack_e but receive a message after the registry check that I have to install Video Studio 10 Plus ESD. I have no idea what this is and I never experienced this difficulty when I first installed VS10+ which I have been using for a couple of years. I still can not open the program. I understand that technical support for this product is no longer available

The ESD (Electronic Software Download) version if the full version.
the TBYB version if the "try before you buy" 30 day free trial version.
You cannot install extra content into a tbyb version.

Thanks sjj1805. But that is the version that I was told to download when I purchased the program and I had no trouble installing the contentpack then. Moreover, does the absence of the extra content prevent me from launching the program. I am including the email I am referring to.

First I've edited and removed the license key from your post. It's a bad idea to post serial numbers and license keys on an open forum.

The approach you took when purchasing VS10, was activating a TBYB version. So after installing the main program, and before installing any other files, you must first activate the program using the license key. Were you able to activate it, and did you activate it before trying to install the content file?

Activation Instructions per Corel Knowledge Base for VS11. They should be the same for VS10..

After completing the installation process, start the application. When you start the application for the first time, a dialog box prompts you to activate the product immediately (by clicking "Activate...") or to postpone activating the product (by clicking "Try"), or if you wish to purchase the product (by clicking ¡§Buy¡¨). If you do not activate the product before the indicated deadline, you cannot use it indefinitely. If you want to know more about the product, click Learn More.

To activate VideoStudio 11:

1. Click the Activate button then type your Activation Code that can be found on your confirmation email.
2. After typing the activation code, click the Activate button.
3. A dialog box will appear that you have successfully activated the program and you must restart the program immediately.

I just uninstalled Ulead vs10+ and re-installed just the main program.
However, I still can not open vs10, so there is no question of activating with a license key. Perhaps I should try a clean uninstall rather than just relying on the one that one gets using add/delete programs.
Thanks for security reminder vidoman: that was careless of me.

Well I just completed a clean re-install, following the steps in the procedure I found in the Corel knowledge base, and the program still will not open I am at a loss as to what I can do next. Since I last used vs10+ the only significant changes/additions to my computer were a new security suite (Trend Micro in place of Norton) and a registry cleaner (Registry First Aid). Any suggestions?

A system restore to a point at which you know VS was working.

Too bad tyamada's suggestion did not come a couple of days sooner . I tried black lab's suggestion to do a restore and brought on a lot of grief. First of all, even after restoring to a point where I was using vs10 without problems, it did not open and, in addition, before I tried to open I got an "internal error" message from vs10 with error code=%s. Disaster struck when I tried to return to the existing configuration. I essentially ended up with a corrupted Windows where very little worked, including System Restore! Fortunately all my valuable data was backed up. So I had to do a restore using CTRL/F11 which got me back to what I got when I bought the pc. Maybe starting with a clean system, vs10 will work again.

I was too hasty to celebrate. To add insult to injury, the program is not accepting the activation key which I retrieved from my Corel account and, according to Corel, they will not issue new key for such an old program. Phoning them yields a merrygoround of recorded messages.
