Corel Video Studio X2 not starting on Vista Ultimate 64

Hello,

I have downloaded the TBYB version of Corel Videostudio 12 X2 and installed it on my HP Pavilion DV7 running on Vista Ultimate 64.

Installation was done without any error messages but when I try to start the program, nothing happens (no error messages, no dialogs outside the Windows confirmation request).

I have uninstalled Videostudio following the information on the KB for a complete uninstall. I have then reinstalled Videostudio with admin rights and after having shut down the anti virus, but no better results.

Any ideas ?

Welcome to the forums,

The first thing that comes to mind, when a program is just not launching is the OS is preventing it from doing so. Windows has what's called Data Execution Prevention. You might need to exempt VS from this.

To Exempt a program from DEP do the following:
  1. Right-click on My Computer and Select Properties
  2. In the dialogue that opens click on the Advance system settings link located under Tasks on the left.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Click on the Settings button for Performance.
  5. In the Performance Options, click on the 3rd tab, Data Execution Prevention.
  6. Click the radio button for Turn on DEP for all.....
  7. Click on the Add button, a window will open that you can navigate to where the executable file for VS, MSP, PI or whatever program you're having problems with, is located. Generally this is found under C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\. However you may have it installed to some other location on your system.
  8. Once you have found it, click on it to add it to the execeptions list.
Now if DEP was preventing your program from launching that should take care of it.

Thanks Ron for your quick reply !

I've found that solution also earlier in one of your post in the forum.
I've already tried it before but without success !

Any other ideas ?
