I am new to this forum and not sure if I am able to search it for previous questions answers without going through 300 pages individually.

Using VSx12, theme template Multi Display 02 -- I cannot work out the attributes to get the six view split screen. I have put the template on the timeline to edit and when I copy and paste the attributes of each track I don't get the same affect. Each overlay track doesn't appear to use the cropping filter and they appear to come up as 'fit to screen'. What am I missing so that I can do the affect myself without having to go to the template each time?

It took me quite a while but.......
I had to create a small project to examine this and it seemed obvious that there was something extra involved that was not contained within VideoStudio.

I had to export the project as a VideoStudio Version 10 so that I could then open it with MediaStudio 8. Having done so I was then able to examine it in more detail with the more powerful MediaStudio 8 and discovered that they have included
1. An overlay
2. A moving path.



So in a nutshell it cannot be done with VideoStudio Editor.
It also begs the question why - if Corel have the technical knowledge to do moving paths in VideoStudio (Movie Wizard) that they have not given this function to us in the Editor.

Interestingly - examination of Corel Installation folder
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\Content\MovingPath
Reveals a file named MovingPath.smp 5582 KB

Further examination reveals the whereabouts of the overlays

Thank you so much. I had been going bonkers trying to sort out what was going on. I hadn't thought of looking at it in MediaStudio 8 and I can see that I would not have known how to do it anyway in that I had to use VS10.
They are certainly tricky in what they have done. I could see that there was some thing else done in the attributes but just could not find it and thought that it was me. Thanks again.

I just don't understand Corel's business/marketing practices.

I think I worked out the problem. Based on the information given in relation to the masks being in the Editing Style/Image folder I imported these masks into VS Pro x2. Into the selection of mask frames drop down menu/window using the + sign at the side of the slider.
After applying the mask attribute I then applied the Enter/Exit direction for each overlay clip and there it is!!
I was impressed with how the mask changed shape to fit the original image that I used which was portrait not landscape and the clip worked well.

I haven't understood them for nigh on 20 years when I bought Corel Draw! and even less when they ruined Ventura. When they bought out WordPerfect, the developers had already shot themselves in one foot, but Corel put a bullet through the other one. When you consider WP was THE word processor in the late 80s and early 90s, pushing MS Word into a cocked hat, with an 80% share of that market... Everything Corel touches gets dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.

I have Ulead MSP and have tried VS X2 Pro (which would be better labelled VS X2 Amateur if it would avoid a conflict with the Trades Description Act), also WP9 and CD12. I abandoned Ventura over 11 years ago: it became a joke after Corel laid its hands on it. I will not be buying any more Corel software unless something radical changes. For video, I have found something that pleases me better.

Corel may not like me saying this on one of their forums but the more often they learn some home truths, the sooner they may revise their policies. I do not apologise.

Member nmehta, provided a video tutorial (free at one time) describing how to do this. However has since removed it from the Free tutorials he once offered. Howver I've managed to locate it on his YouTube channel..

Moving Blocks.

I think the MovingPath.smp file in VS is used for the "moving paths" that are applied when pressing one of the Enter/Exit arrows in VS. I agree that VS does have moving paths, just not the ability to really control them, and integrate them with enlarging and shrinking the images.
