Corel Pro 2 m2TS files with audio - jerky and crash
Has anyone any ideas with my excellent gear (just uypgraded to a Quad Pro Duo) why I am still getting jerky AVCHS files playing while editing? From time to time I get a message like "The instruction at ... referenced memory at ... could not be reads/written." It then gives me a choice of clicking OK to terminate or Cancel to debug. Whatever I do it crashes. Could it be my XP system (which has SP2 on it)? Stills are not a problem with audio files. It is just long (over 7 seconds) AVCHS files with audio.

It's probably a corrupt video file, or a file and CODEC that are not 100% compatable.
It's usually NOT the operating system or the hardware, although DirectX can cause some screwy problems.Could it be my XP system (which has SP2 on it)?
Do you mean AVCHD? Have you installed this patch?...AVCHS files...

Crashes with VS12 when making videofile
I am still unable to create a videofile of my project. I have cut it in half so have 25 mins of AVCHD film and JPEG stills and have removed most of the transitions. Still doesn't work. Is there any other option like making an iso file?

Have you used SmartProxy, which can be set to automatically make a standard definition mpeg-2 proxy/copy of your AVCHD files. You then edit these copies and play them back (smoothly) in real time, and then at the end, when you render them to a new file, the edits are applied to the AVCHD files.
FWIW, I have had a Quad for over 15 months now, and while the jerkiness is not bad, I get it most of the time when editing AVCHD. I have learned to live with it as (1) making SmartProxy files takes a long time (but they work!); and (2) I am just after an idea of whether the transitions etc I add are in the right place, so don't really care too much what the preview looks like since I know it will be (largely) fine in the end.
Note, however, that I say "(largely) fine", since there is a bug which appears to cause a slight blip around transitions in AVCHD.
Luckily for me, though, I mainly use HDV which does not have the same problem, even when I convert the edited HDV to an AVCHD hybrid disc.

Difficulty saving videofile
I have - through a very scientific method I might add - discovered VS12 does not like MP4 audio files. I have converted them to WAV and now have no further problems saving a videofile of my project. Thanks for your advice though.
