OK so we know you have a Sony and are having trouble. Period. Is your camera a mini DV model? A HDV model? (Both of those use firewire to import.) Or is it a mini DVD model? Different method of import. Or is it a hard disk model? Different import method again... And if it is one, like an AVCHD model, it will use a memory card -- and yet another method of import. Or, indeed, is it an older analogue camera -- which uses yet a further method...
So yes, we DO require more information... Plus an indication of what methods you have been trying which failed. Having an idea of which version of Video Studio you are using would also be useful, plus an idea of your computer set-up.
We are not big on telepathy here!

My camcorder is a mini DV model. The method the seller suggested was using Image Mixer which cam with it. But that software gives me the blue screen of death on my xp laptop and it is not compatible with vista.
I want to import the footage using Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus

Hi Simon
What is the model number of your camera?
A Mini DV-Type camera is best connected using ¡¥Firewire¡¦ (IEEE)(i-link)
But do you have a firewire port on your laptop? (DV-In)
Select DV as the capture format from VS 10 capture screen (13Gb per hour)
Firewire cables are not normally supplied with the camcorders, you would have to purchase separately.
(probably 4 pin to 4 pin for laptop)
Otherwise what hardware are you using to connect to computer?
How are you connecting the camera to the pc?
You say Video Studio 10 and Vista, have you applied the Vista patch?
And where are you in this big wide world? this will help in identifying whether you are Pal or Ntsc.

No, you don't
have to go into detail. But since you won't, I won't either. You probably have a hardware or software problem. Is that hard to understand?

USB is fine for transferring still pictures to your pc, but it's not fast enough for video. You need to use firewire. If you don't have a firewire card on your pc they are cheap and easy to install.

If you are using a desktop PC then 4 to 6 pin
Check the connections on your pc and camera
