Anyone used the new DivX 7 with high Def?

Post by Sue Whitham »

I've been reading that the new DivX 7, based on H.264, is far more efficient than its predecessor DivX 6, which was MPEG-4 based, and that it supports full high definition profiles.

Has anyone experience with the DivX 7 pro codec?

Does it mean that we will be able to compress far bigger files on to standard DVD? (Given that it will need a DivX certified player to view it)

And does anyone know if the DivX Pro trial version includes all the custom options? DivX 6 pro trial didn't.

It looks interesting. I own Divx Pro 6.8.2 and experimented in the Divx HD mode and alot in the Unconstrained Mode to improve Youtube
videos and came close to a set of paramenters that reduced motion
pixelation and artifacts but that project fell to the side,
but the info on Pro 7 seems to have greatly improved encoding of
heavy motion videos

In my recent visit to the Divx webside, I entered my Divx Pro serial number and found out that Pro 6 owners can upgrade to Divx Pro 7 for $9.99 I just may have to take a more detailed look into it and upgrade.

Don't know about the trial version.

I've upgraded to DivX 7 Pro. All the DivX components ie converter, player etc work as freestanding programmes - but the Codec displayed in X2 remains as before ie DivX 6.8.5.

Does anyone know if the codec itself is unchanged or how I can get the new one to register in X2?
