Trouble Capturing with Media Studio Capture 8
Hey I have Media Studio 8, and Im trying to capture from my JVC GY-HD200 B. I can manipulate the VTR mode from the camera using the Video Capture, but it freezes. my computer recognizes the JVC driver, but Media Studio Capture does not, is this camera compatible?
It may be helpful also to know:
- Picture format
- Frame rate
- Does it happen for DV/HD or both
- Capture settings
- plus what Steve has asked for
If you tell us nothing, we can answer only with nothing.

not like this information would make a difference...
720p
60 fps
Happens for both
Capture settings: Default HDV setting
I just want to know if the camera is compatible with the software, it has nothing to do with my computer

OK, if you cannot import a DV, then there is something drastically wrong, probably with your settings.
Under Device Control, you should be using HDV1394 for HD and MS1394 for DV. Under Options/Active Device, you should see the name of the Camera. If you don't, it is probable that your IEEE-1394 card is not OK. Try a different port. Then check you have the right Capture Plug-in and correct, as necessary.
BTW, just because you don't see the relevance of a question or request for information that anyone here asks does not mean there is no relevance. It is only by an appreciation of many factors that we can often help users, so please do not get shirty or smart-***.

you know, all you software guys are the same, you think "its not the software, its not the software!!! its you, its your computer, its your camera" just once it might be that this 2 year old video editing software does not support a JVC video camera. im throwing out my Media Studio and buying Avid. Thanks for nothing guys.

I guess in your frustration that you overlooked my post above, or just refused to look at the compatibility chart. I even stated that "it" meaning your camcorder, does not show on the list.vidoman wrote:It's not showing on this 3 year old list...

No one here said it could not be the sofware, but there are numerous other "hardware" issues that could prevent it as well. You came here looking for help, however really must not want help. Do you tell a mechanic, "hey my car won't start, why not", and expect him to tell you without you providing more info for him to work with?....
No one here is employed by, or gets anything from Ulead or Corel. We just use the products, and volunteer our free time to help others. We could really care less if you throw out any or all of Corel's products, as it has no affect on us. Good luck with Avid...

It amazes me when you try to help people who obviously know more than we guys who have been using MSP for years, and they are just arrogantly rude while not answering any of our questions. Fortunately this attitude is rare. I'm delighted that he can display his know-all arrogance on Avid's forums instead of ours.
