VS9 Smart Sound Install Error

Post by c4791p »

Has anyone else experienced "-43 error occurred" when installing VS9 Smart Sound?

Using the automated install got a pile of 26 sound files that would not extract and copy to my system in the smart sound\quicktracks\library folder, titled alphabetically from "Bach clear thru Underwatere."

After getting all the rest of VS9 setup and restarting as required, I tried installing directly from the CD, with the exact same result. Was wondering if I had a screwed up cd, or if there was something else in vs9 program causing me problems.

I saw in an earlier posting, which I missed yesterday, that others are having problems with smart sound. I'll go home this evening and try the fixes mentioned, and see if my problem goes away. If not, then I guess I need to run back quickly and exchange my program so I have a good CD.

:( Well folks, I guess I don't need to try to return the Upgrade CD to Ulead sales, I carried my vs8 into my office, installed on an XP Pro SP2 machine and then installed the upgrade to vs9. Not one single problem. Everything went in smoothly.

I guess I have to dig back through files and see how to do a clean uninstall of VS8 and the vs9 upgrade, and start over at home.

Another thought, since all else appears to work without fault on my home system except for smart sounds, before I do that, I'm going to copy the smart sound libraries to a cd and carry them home, then I'll copy them to my hd at home and run vs9 to see if I can rebuild everything.

Then sometime I guess I should actually remove vs8. There's no sense keeping a program on my hard drive that I'm not using.
