Welcome to the forums,
Sometimes problems with VS such as not advancing to the next step in the burn module or display issues are due to some current updates breaking parts of VS. Go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated November 2008.
Do you have Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite, or Nero's InCD installed? These may have installed a Packet Writing utility, that tend to hi-jack DVD burners, not allowing other programs like VS to have access. With Roxio's EMCS, you can internally disable this "drag-n'-drop" utility, however with Nero's InCD you will need to un-install it through the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs.
Finally when you state you're pressing next and nothing is happening, have you successfully made it to the last (burn) step in the module? If so are pressing the Burn icon located in the lower right of the screen?
