VideoStudio Pro 12 - Crashes while opening an AVI file...

I've been having trouble with this for a while. When I first downloaded it, it worked fine, except for those darn AVI files. It never crashed before, but I did have problems editing as it would lag when I had AVI files in the timeline, so I had to convert them to another format. But now it won't even let me import AVI files at all without crashing immediately.

Here's a snapshot of the error message I get right before it closes down on me.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Edition 64-bit, if that helps. lol
Anyone able to help me out or am I a lost cause?

Here's a link to the same problem occurring in Adobe Premiere, in connection with Flash video. You might try the procedure described to set the environment variable.

Idk? They were recorded from an HD tv and ripped in a way that the HD quality would stay.
