Hey ,I hope someone can help with advise. I have Ulead pro X2 & my video overlaying is is a little jerky, kinda hanging up, not wanting to play smooth it the viewing monitor. If I only use one video is in the time line it does fine, If I add any green screen video overlay in the overlay track, it hangs up while Im watching in my viewing monitor. When I burn to disc it plays fine, it happens only in the timeline when editing. Is there some kind of settings Im needing to check or unckeck to make the video run smoother while Im viewing. I have a 2006 Compaq perserio, Windows XP AMD Athleon 64 processor 3800+, 4GB Ram & HIS Hightech H485F512P Radeon HD 4850 512MB graphics card. Don't understand why the video is hanging up. The timeline bar runs smoothly but not in the viewing monitor. Thanks to any advise....

Hello Eddie,
What sort of video files are you working with?

It is not uncommon for preview playback in VS to not be smooth. This however depends on the type of video files you're editing, effects, filters and so on. When pressing the play button, VS must throw all these things together on-the-fly, which is a big demand for a computer.
You can change the Preview Playback Method in the Preferences settings (File menu>Preferences or simply press [F6] on your keyboard), from Instant Playback to High Quality. The latter will render a temp file of your project. This may take a short time, depending on the complexity of your project and your PC.
Taking this one step further, you can set a Preview Range so that VS will render a short segment for High Quality Playback. In Project Mode, place the play head where you want to start previewing and click on the "[" or press [F3] on your keyboard. Then move the playhead to the end of the segment, click on the "]" or [F4]. You should see a red line running through the time line. Pressing Play or going to Share, Project Playback, and selecting Preview Range, VS will render to a temp file only that portion shown by the red line..

The more I use X2 the more I have found that it is much less forgiving than v10 when it comes to playback of a project using multiple timelines or video filters.
I thought it was due to my old P4 with 1GB RAM, but your system is far superior to mine.
