Post by nyairman »

I love Cool 3DPS but not the output size created. Does anybody know of some good .gif optimizer software compatable with Vista? Thanks for your help....Greg

The ideal program would be Ulead GIF Animator 5. However, it's not officially Vista-compatible, nor supported anymore. However, it seems it's still available for sale: http://store.corel.com/webapp/wcs/store ... &langId=-1

I've used it for years, love it. Great variety of file types you can use as source. As for Vista - it works for some, but not for others. Seems to be a crap shoot. You can do a free trial to see if it'll work on your Vista machine.

One I haven't tried, but others seem to find okay, is Easy GIF Animator. I've not tried this one. http://www.blumentals.net/egifan/

With Cool 3DPS, the gif files output won't be easily compressed any smaller. The best way to make an animation is to export as frames, in TGA format. Assembled and optimized with Ulead GA 5, the file size is a lot less.

The problem with Easy GIF Animator is it supports only GIF, JPG, PNG and BMP. You could export as JPG with C3DPS, but you can't preserve any transparency.
