im not sure whether its X2 or vista problem
after finished rendering the video in wma and when i try to enter into the folder where the video is
vista screen went grey and freezed, cannot do anything to it but i manage to hibernate the system using my keyboard shortcut and resume the system
upon resuming i had to close the video folder immediately before it freezes again..
i have ask around in vista support forum but so far no one has responded to it about this problem and no choice to try my luck on corel forum
anyone knows about this problem and have any solution?
i have since restored my new laptop again with a fresh vista installation and again after rendering the whole screen grey out and freeze again
using XP system doesnt have any such problem
my new laptop specs
intel duo core 2ghz
4ghz ddr2 mem
GMA4500MHD graphic 1759MB
vista home premium

First, can you confirm you mean you rendered in .wmv format, as .wma, which you referred to, is an audio-only format.
Next, can you tell us exactly which format/profile of .wmv you were trying to output to and the origin and properties of the video you were using. It would also be useful to know what editing you did to the original video before trying to render it to .wmv.

This could be the same some sort of bug in Vista that I have only recently experienced. It hasn't occurred for the year that I have had Vista.
Each time I click on a video file (wmv I think) in Windows Explorer, it freezes then shuts down.
The fix for it is to open Windows Explorer, go to Tools/Folder Options/View Tab then place a tick in the 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' option at the top of the list.
It's a pain in the neck, but I often enable and disable this option.
I hope this might be the cure for your problem!

Strange...
To me it sounds like a video card problem. Ensure the latest appropriate video drivers are installed.
I've never experienced this problem on Vista 64 bit

I have thought about that a little more and it could be related to an installed codec. Perhaps K-Lite or similar.
I don't remember where I found the fix for it, but I'm sure it doesn't relate directly to the video card or the driver.
I just know it works for the problem I have. I will reformat the hard drive and do a compete install someday when I have time!

You could be right....sometimes those free codec packs create more problems than solve.
You probably don;t need to re-format the whole drive just to remove codecs.... but you might have to remove
all codecs and download the codecs form Microsoft to refresh.

thanks for the heads up guys
at least the 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' option seen to be working right now
and at first i thought so the drivers might be the problem and restore the system to factory state and try again but problem still persisted
i was thinking everything runs fine and even when i used the 3ds Max program and the rendering wasnt any problem as well...
well at least another mystery been solved for the vista
strange but it happened to my system.
at least u guys are friendlier than the mod in the vista forum
cheers!!

I'm glad that it worked for you. At least you can get on with what you were doing until a permanent solution can be found.
I'll keep looking!
