I need help editing a video clip.

I filmed about a 6 minute scene from the opening song at the midnight mass at my church. I would like to replace just the video in a few portions of the scene where I shook the camera too much. I would like to replace those bad video portions with some other shots I took in the church after the mass was over.

I already know how to edit different scenes together but this is the hard part: I want to keep the full audio from the original 6 minute scene and add the replacement scenes without their audio track. I hope I can do this without having to buy a more expensive editing program.

Here is a list of my equipment: Videostudio 11.5 Plus, Canon Vixia HF10 high def camcorder and a Dell Inspiron 530 PC with a Core2 Quad processor (Q6600) @ 2.40Ghz and 3GB of ram.

I would just leave the original video and audio in the main timeline. Then use one of the overlay tracks in VS11.5+ to place the replacement images or video at the correct spots. You would need to right click on the overlay image/video to make it fit to screen and perhaps do a fade-in and out on it too so that it is not abrupt when blended with the main track. Then you just do Share > Create Video file, as normal, to produce a new clip.

....and be sure to mute the audio in the overlay track!
