A number of users have verified that there are blips/stutters even on straight cuts on footage from the hf100. They are difficult to detect unless your shot includes steady panning. Please see the dvinfo forum for more details:

Now that I have tested further, I am seeing that the blips/stutters are NOT fixed by this patch, even on simple cuts. So, for now, I will stick with Pixela, which is the hf100 bundled software.
X2 Pro Patch and AVCHD

To show others what I am talking about, I took a short panning clip with the HF100. I used VSX2 and Pixela (hf100 bundled software) to cut the clip in half and simply transpose the second half of the clip with the first. If you look at these files very closely, you will see that the VSX2 file stutters right before and right after the cut between the two halves; the Pixela file does not have a stutter.
For VSX2, I saved the file as AVCHD 1920 by 1080, and accepted all default options.
I've tried many different configurations for VSX2 (turning off smart proxy, using 30p instead of 60i settings in the hf100) and I still get the same stutters on simple cuts. Other folks have tested my source files and have had the same results. I think that a lot of people don't notice this stutter problem because they may not ever cut during a fluid pan.
Here are the two files:

Given that the Pixela files do not have stutter problems, I am sticking with that editing software. I have tried Nero and Power Director, and I have not been satisfied with those applications because they also cannot match the clean output that Pixela produces.
I have tried Vegas, but I don't think my dual core AMD 5400+ is up to snuff. It keeps crashing.

Here is the source file from the hf100, if anyone wants to play around with it.

I downloaded your clip created by vsx2 and found out that in win media player the glitch is clearly visible BUT clip checked in Corel frame by frame I can not see any glitches!!! The cut is in time 00:00:05:10 and 00:00:05:11. It is very strange. I will check it on PS3 in the evening...

The same used to be true with glitches in smart-rendered mpeg2 clips. If you stepped thru them frame by frame in VS, everything looked fine, but on DVD's played back either on a pc or set-top/standalone player hooked up to a tv, you could detect a brief flicker.michal_h wrote:I downloaded your clip created by vsx2 and found out that in win media player the glitch is clearly visible BUT clip checked in Corel frame by frame I can not see any glitches!!! When you checked the clip in something like Virtual Dub, you could see clear anomalies at the transitions.
It's a while since I checked this effect in mpeg2 editing - I think I looked at the problem with VS8 or 9.

Hi, I¡¦m experiencing problems with VS X2 Pro with AVCHD 1080i (HA1920 ¡V 17mbps VBR) video produced by a Panasonic HDC-SD9. I have installed the latest patches and have glitches in the frames before and after transitions and edit cuts. I¡¦ve now spent weeks on trying to produce a satisfactory file output. I have tried most quality settings in the hope that just one would not have the frame problems. I spoken to Corel Tech support in the UK some 25 times, Corel (The techie ) denies that VS has any problems with AVCHD ¡V And as there isn¡¦t a problem refuse to suggest any solution! I have found work rounds, the first I tried AVCHD Upshift ¡V As my copy is only a trial it limited the clips to 10 seconds, but importing the processed clips into VS doesn¡¦t seem to experience the frame problems with transitions or edits. My second solution is processing the source AVCHD through Nero Vision 8 and outputted a HD file at 1080i, 17 mbps and used this as a source to VS. My test output file to AVCHD on DVD played OK on my PS3. I¡¦m now trying some 20 minutes onto AVCHD DVD disk. The only down side I¡¦ve found is that I lost the 5.1 sound from the original video and as the video wasn¡¦t shot in the best conditions is difficult to judge the final output.
